The recycling center is closed on public holidays in Hesse, as well as on December 24th and 31st. Please refer to the press release in the Gelnhäuser Bote for bridge days.

For smooth processing at the recycling center, please observe the following instructions:

  • Please present your national ID card as proof of residence. The supervisor is authorized to verify your identity.
  • The best way to sort is to organize everything clearly at home before you arrive. This allows for quick unloading at the recycling center and reduces unnecessary waiting times.
  • Entry is possible up to 5 minutes before closing.

Quantity Limit:

  • Acceptance is only in household quantities; household clear-outs are excluded. To allow all waiting daily customers to dispose of their waste, individual large deliveries and multiple trips per day are not permitted.
  • TV and computer screens, large electrical appliances (e.g., washing machines), used oil, and hazardous waste (see also hazardous waste collection vehicle) will not be accepted.
  • Follow the staff's instructions.

The following waste can be delivered free of charge:

  • Waste paper and cardboard
  • Scrap iron and scrap metal
  • Small electrical appliances (e.g., toasters, hairdryers, electric shavers, coffee makers, and other similarly sized appliances)
  • Recycled glass (bottles and jars, separated by clear, green, and brown glass)
  • Cork material (e.g., wine corks)
  • Compact Discs (CD, DVD)—a disc is made of 99 % polycarbonate and is highly recyclable

  • Fats and oils (frying fat or oil from private households)
  • Batteries
  • Fluorescent tubes and energy-saving lamps (maximum assumed quantity: 3 pieces)
