Apply for support for a successful vocational training/entry-level qualification (supported vocational training)

If you experience difficulties during your vocational training or entry-level qualification, you and your training company can receive support to help you successfully start or complete your training or entry-level qualification.

Assisted Training (AsA) can support you on your way from finding and securing a suitable training position to successfully completing your in-company vocational training. 

AsA supports you, for example with poor grades or problems at the training company/vocational school or at home that jeopardize the start or success of your training.

You can also receive support via AsA when completing an entry-level qualification (EQ).

An educational provider with experienced teachers, social education workers, and a training coordinator will develop an individual support plan with you.

Depending on your individual needs, you can receive support for a limited period or even throughout your entire training/EQ.

During your participation, a training coordinator will be available to you as a dedicated contact person.

If you complete your in-company vocational training or EQ on a part-time basis, you can receive the same support during the accompanying phase of AsA.

Even as a young person with disabilities, you can participate in AsA if your individual support needs can be met and participation in working life is achieved.

Your training company can also receive support within the framework of AsA to make your training or your EQ a success.

The AsA is divided into 2 phases.

Pre-phase (optional)

This phase supports the search for and acquisition of a company training position. Contents may include, for example:

• Internship,
• if necessary, also career orientation,
• Application training,
• Strengthening motivation or
• to a limited extent, the reduction of language and educational deficits.

Participation is full-time (39 lessons per week) and generally lasts for 6 months. If you are unable to find an in-company training position during this time, participation can be extended by an additional 2 months.

If you have signed a company training contract or a contract for the implementation of an EQ, you can participate in the accompanying phase of AsA at any time if you require further support.

You can receive vocational training allowance while participating in the preparatory phase.

Notice for training companies:

As a training company, you can get to know your future trainee during the preliminary phase, for example through an internship, and also receive support from the training provider. These include, for example:

• Support for in-company trainers in preparing for training
• Assistance in preparing application documents for funding by the training company.

accompanying phase

You can be supported in this phase:

• by helping to overcome language and learning difficulties
• in the promotion of theoretical-professional skills, knowledge, and abilities
• with measures to successfully complete the training/EQ and not drop out and
• when preparing for the transition to a job subject to compulsory insurance after completing training
• in stabilizing or finding employment after completing training.

Your support will be coordinated with the training company and goes beyond the teaching of content customary to operations and training. You and the training company will receive individual support in the process.

The number of hours per week for the exchange and teaching offerings is tailored individually to your needs. These generally take place outside of regular company training hours.

The duration of our support is based on your individual needs. This can be for the entire duration of your training/initial vocational training (EQ), or only temporarily.

The content focus of the accompanying phase includes:

• Tutoring for vocational school classes,
• Tutoring in language classes,
• Preparation for class tests and exams,
• Mediating discussions between trainers, teachers, and/or parents,
• Socio-educational support or
• Support with personal issues affecting training / EQ

continue to be available, now within the framework of AsA.

AsA can be suspended for a maximum of 6 months if you temporarily have no need for support. If no further support is necessary after the 6 months have expired, AsA will be terminated.

Post-completion support is still available for up to 6 months after finishing your training if you have found a job. If finding a job was unsuccessful, AsA can continue to assist with the job search for up to 1 year after the end of vocational training.

If you incur travel costs as part of AsA, you must pay for them yourself. The Employment Agency (Agentur für Arbeit) or the Jobcenter will not reimburse these costs.

Notice for training companies:

As a training company, you will receive during the accompanying phase

• the necessary assistance in the administration, organization, and implementation of the training/ EQ of the supported trainee/ participant in an EQ as well as
• on-the-job support to stabilize the training relationship/EQ.

Regular conversations with your trainees or participants in an EQ help identify difficulties and develop solutions.

For this purpose, a written declaration to the educational provider is required, stating that you will enable your trainee or participant in an entry-level qualification (EQ) to take part in the individual support services within the framework of AsA.

You can participate in a supported training measure after a personal interview with the Employment Agency or the Jobcenter, if the funding requirements are met, a corresponding measure is available in your region, and a vacant spot is open. If a personal interview is not possible, your request can also be discussed over the phone.

• Contact the competent employment agency or – if you receive Bürgergeld – the competent job center and arrange an appointment for a consultation.
• Please submit the documents and evidence that prove your need for support for this conversation.
• You discuss together your need for support and questions arising from your documents.
• The Employment Agency or the Job Center checks, based on the available information, whether you meet the requirements for participation and will inform you of the result.
• If participation is planned for you, the career counselor at the Employment Agency or the integration specialist at the Job Center will name the educational provider that offers Assisted Training and will discuss the further procedure with you.

Notice for training companies:

As a company that provides training or wishes to do so, please contact the employer hotline of the Employment Agency or the Employment Agency responsible for your place of business. If the Jobcenter is responsible for funding your trainee, their jurisdiction is determined by the trainee's residential address.
