The level of the minimum wage is adjusted at regular intervals. A permanent minimum wage commission decides periodically every two years what the adjustment will be.
The decision of the Minimum Wage Commission can be made binding for all employers and employees by statutory ordinance of the Federal Government.

The first adjustment of the minimum wage took effect on January 1, 2017. From that point on, the Minimum Wage Commission is to decide on the adjustment of the minimum wage amount every 2 years.
