Applying for employment assistance for people with disabilities in training and employment at the job center

Gültigkeitsgebiet: Bundesweit

Quick info

If your employees need special support during their training or at work due to a disability, you as an employer can apply for workplace aids.

Description

Individual work aids support people with disabilities in training or employment. The job center coordinates the support with you as the employer for your business.

Examples of work aids include access ramps, sanitary facilities, or structural modifications within the company. The costs of the work aids also include the necessary incidental costs, for example planning costs, fees, and expert fees. After a subsidy is granted, your company becomes the owner of the work aid.

Depending on the decision, the Jobcenter can cover all or part of the costs of the work assistance for you.

Funding for work aids for people with disabilities is at the discretion of the authorities; you have no legal entitlement to it.

Procedure

You can only apply for work aids for people with disabilities in training and employment in writing:

  • Contact your contact person at the job center.
  • Together you can discuss which work aids are suitable.
  • You will either receive the application documents by mail or be handed them in person. If you have any questions while filling out the applications, please contact your contact person.
  • Submit the documents with the required proofs to the job center.
  • The job center is examining whether the person with disabilities can become the owner of the work assistance so that they could take the work assistance with them to the next workplace/employer.
    • In this case, the funding for the work assistance would be provided to the person with disabilities and processed with them.
  • The Jobcenter is reviewing the necessary scope of the work aids. It is also checking whether an inspection of the workplace might be necessary.
  • You will receive a preliminary written notice stating whether the applied-for assistance will be granted.
  • Upon approval, you purchase the work aids for your business and submit the invoice to the job center.
  • At the end, you will receive a formal notification of approval for the specific service.
