Notify the Künstlersozialkasse of the health insurance change

If you are compulsorily insured for health and long-term care through the Künstlersozialkasse (Artists' Social Security Fund), you can change your health insurance fund under certain conditions.

As a person who is subject to mandatory statutory health and long-term care insurance through the Artists' Social Security Fund (KSK), you can choose your health insurance provider. You have the choice of the following statutory health insurance funds:

• the local health insurance fund of your place of residence or work
• an alternative health insurance fund
• a company or guild health insurance fund, if provided for in the fund's bylaws
• the German statutory pension insurance scheme Knappschaft-Bahn-See.

The benefits provided by statutory health and long-term care insurance are largely identical across all health insurance funds. However, differences exist:

• in the amount of the additional contribution,
• in the service offering and
• for additional services or statutory benefits.

The health insurance funds inform you about their benefits and service offerings.

Long-term care insurance funds are affiliated with health insurance funds. If you change your health insurance fund, you automatically change your long-term care insurance fund as well.

First, contact your new health insurance fund and register as a member there. Afterwards, you can submit your request online or by mail to the Künstlersozialkasse.

Online message:

• Go to the online form on the federal portal verwaltung.bund.de. It will guide you step by step through the required information, which you can enter electronically.
• Note: You need a valid ELSTER certificate to log in to the online form. Alternatively, you can use your electronic ID document.
• You will need approximately 10 minutes to complete the online application.
• First, enter your personal details, including your insurance number. You can find this in the top right corner of letters from the Künstlersozialkasse.
• On the next page, you can then specify your new health insurance provider and the date of the change.

Notification by mail:

• Inform the Künstlersozialkasse of the name and address of your new health insurance fund as well as the date of the change.
• Please also include your insurance number. You can find it in the upper right corner of the letters from the Artists' Social Insurance Fund.

Upon receipt of the form or your notification, the Künstlersozialkasse will review your information. If there are any questions or if further documents are required, the Künstlersozialkasse will contact you in writing. Finally, the Künstlersozialkasse will confirm your registration with the newly chosen health insurance fund in writing.

Please notify the Künstlersozialkasse of your health insurance provider change without delay.

There are no costs.
