freedom of movement for workers
Freedom of movement for workers is one of the EU's fundamental freedoms. It gives nationals of EU member states, including Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland, the right to your Workplace within these states free to choose. You need no work permit. You have the same access to employment in each of the aforementioned states as the nationals of that state. That means you and your family members have a Right of residence for the purpose of exercising your gainful employment. As a citizen of the aforementioned states, one may also enter another member state and reside there to seek employment. However, this right exists only for a period of up to six months and beyond that only as long as the person concerned can prove that they are still seeking employment and have a reasonable prospect of being hired, in accordance with Section 2 Paragraph 2 No. 1a of the Freedom of Movement Act/EU.
The EURES network of European public employment services and other labor market service providers assists with the search for a job, apprenticeship, or traineeship in another European country. The EURES advisors, who are networked across Europe, support job seekers and people seeking advice with information and placement offers.
The EURES Portal offers the opportunity for self-information and the creation of one's own applicant profile in order to search specifically for jobs.
