Apply for grants for the training and employment of severely disabled people and those with equal status at the job center

If you provide vocational training or further education to severely disabled persons and persons of equal status within your company, you can receive a subsidy for the training allowance. If you hire this person on a permanent basis afterwards, you can receive a wage subsidy.

Subsidies for training allowances for severely disabled people or people with equal status

You generally receive the training allowance continuously for the entire duration of the training or further education.

The amount of the grant is determined individually and depends on the type and severity of the disabilities as well as the impact of the disabilities on the initial or further training.

The subsidy is paid monthly and amounts to up to 80 percent of the monthly training allowance for the last year of training or further education for severely disabled persons or persons with equal status, in each case including the employer's lump-sum share of the total social security contribution. In justified exceptional cases, subsidies can be granted up to the amount of the training allowance for the last year of training or further education.

All operational measures that have vocational training or qualification of severely disabled people or people with equal status as their content and main focus can be subsidized. This also includes, for example, dual study programs if they include a vocational qualification pursuant to the Vocational Training Act.

Whether you can receive the training allowance subsidy is decided by your job center. There is no legal entitlement to a subsidy.

Note: The job center is only responsible if it concerns a person with a severe disability or equivalent status.

For people with disabilities, you submit the application to the responsible Employment Agency, provided no other rehabilitation provider is responsible.

Integration subsidy following initial or further training

If you hire a severely disabled person or a person of equal status after they have completed training or further education funded by a training grant, the job center can pay you an integration subsidy.

The integration subsidy amounts to up to 70 percent of the wage and can be paid for a year.

However, the exact amount is at the discretion of the job center.

The competent authority is the job center in whose district the employable beneficiary has their habitual residence. The job center is also responsible in the case of existing employment relationships if supplementary benefits are granted in accordance with the Second Book of the Social Code.

You can apply for both the training allowance and the integration subsidy following training or continuing education in writing, in person, or by phone:

• Please contact your case workers at the Job Center. There, you will receive the forms to fill out and instructions on the application process.
• Complete the application in full and submit it to the job center with all required documents.
• You can also fill out the documents online.
• The Job Center will review your application.
• You will then receive a notice informing you whether your application has been approved or denied.

You can also apply for the integration subsidy online:

• Open the "eServices" portal on the website of the Federal Employment Agency.
• Log in with your user ID and open the application.
• Complete the application, upload the required documents, and submit the application.
• Your job center is reviewing your application and documents.
• You will receive a notification regarding the decision on your application.

There is no deadline. You must apply for the training grant before you have signed the training or further education contract. 

You must apply for the integration subsidy before the person you will employ starts work. 

There are no costs.
