Change income estimate at the artists' social security fund

Is your professional situation changing in such a way that you expect a different income from your self-employed artistic or journalistic activity? Then you must adjust your income estimate with the Künstlersozialkasse.

To the extent that you are insured or eligible for subsidies through the Künstlersozialkasse as an artist or freelance journalist, you can change your income estimate currently on file with the Künstlersozialkasse at any time.

By submitting a new income estimate, you can adjust your contribution amount to your new situation.

When changing your income estimate, please note the following:

• Always provide your income estimate in full Euro amounts.
• If you expect a loss, enter 0 EUR as your anticipated annual earned income.
• Changes to the income estimate are possible both upward and downward.
• Changes to the income estimate are possible several times a year.

A change to your income estimate generally affects the contribution calculation starting from the month following receipt of the notification.
 

You can submit your request online or by mail. Please note that you can only update your income estimate from January to November of any given year.

First, determine your new income projection for the current year based on your earnings to date and taking into account your future order volume.

Online message:

• Go to the online form on the federal portal verwaltung.bund.de. It will guide you step by step through the required information, which you can enter electronically. 
• Note: You need a valid ELSTER certificate to log in to the online form. Alternatively, you can use your electronic ID document.
• You will need approximately 10 minutes to complete the online application. 
• First, enter your personal details, including your insurance number. You can find this in the top right corner of letters from the Künstlersozialkasse.
• On the next page, you'll first find general information on the topic of "income estimation.".
• You can then enter your updated estimated annual income from employment.

Notification by mail:

• Fill out the PDF form "Notice of change of expected earned income" on the website of the Künstlersozialkasse. 
• Please also include your insurance number. You can find it in the upper right corner of the letters from the Artists' Social Insurance Fund.
• Print out the completed PDF, sign it, and send your change notification to the Artists' Social Security Fund.

You will receive written confirmation of the change to your income estimate. Depending on the circumstances, you may receive a new premium notice.
 

Please notify us immediately of any changes to your estimated annual earned income from artistic or journalistic self-employment. The change can only be taken into account for the current year if it is received between January and November of a given year.

There are no costs.
