Report estimated annual income to the Künstlersozialkasse

If you are insured through the Künstlersozialkasse, you must submit an annual income estimate.

Are you self-employed as an artist or publicist and insured through or eligible for subsidies from the Artists' Social Security Fund (Künstlersozialkasse)? Then you must report your anticipated earned income from your self-employed artistic or publisistic activity once a year.

This information always refers to the upcoming year and forms the basis for calculating the monthly contributions or subsidies.

When submitting your income estimate, please note:

• To determine the anticipated earned income, please consider both your experience from past profits and losses of recent years and the future order situation.
• Always provide your income estimate in full Euro amounts.
• If you expect a loss, enter 0 EUR as your anticipated earned income.

If you do not submit the income estimate on time, you jeopardize your insurance status or your entitlement to subsidies. In addition, failing to submit the income estimate on time is an administrative offense that can be punished with a fine.

You will receive a request by post from the Künstlersozialkasse to submit your income report. You can do this either online or by post.

Online message: 

• Access the online form on the federal portal verwaltung.bund.de. This will guide you step by step through the necessary information, which you can enter electronically.
• Note: You need a valid ELSTER certificate to log in to the online form. Alternatively, you can use your electronic ID document.
• You will need approximately 10 minutes to complete the online application.
• First, enter your personal details, including your insurance number. You can find this in the top right corner of letters from the Künstlersozialkasse.
• On the next page, you will first receive general information.
• Then you state your expected annual earned income.
• Should the field of art or journalism in which you earn your main income have changed, please also select your new field of activity.

Notification by mail:

• Complete the form for submitting the anticipated earned income completely.
• If you no longer have the answer sheet, please use the PDF form "Form for reporting the anticipated annual earned income" from the Künstlersozialkasse website. An informal notification is also possible.
• Please observe all instructions sent to you along with the prompt.
• Sign the form.
• Please do not make any additional entries on the form.
• Send the form to the Künstlersozialkasse.
• You will not receive an acknowledgement of receipt for the submission of your report.

If there are any questions, the Künstlersozialkasse will contact you by mail.

The notification of the anticipated earned income for the following calendar year must be made by December 1st in each case.
