Apply for transitional allowance for people with disabilities

Gültigkeitsgebiet: Bundesweit

Online erledigen

Quick info

As a person with disabilities, you can receive transition allowance to secure your livelihood if you participate in certain educational measures.

Description

You receive transitional allowance as a maintenance benefit for living expenses, usually in connection with a special benefit for participation in working life, for example for participation in a further training measure in a vocational rehabilitation facility.

Your previous gross earnings are normally the basis for the calculation.

The amount of your transition allowance also depends on your personal situation, for example

  • whether you have a child or a stepchild taken into your household, or
  • whether your spouse or partner living with you in the same household is unable to work because they are caring for you or require care themselves.

You will receive the full amount of transition allowance even for a part-time measure.

You can receive the transition allowance for the entire duration of your measure.

If you can no longer participate in the measure solely for health reasons, but are expected to be able to do so again, the transition allowance will continue to be paid for up to 6 weeks, but at the latest until the scheduled end of the measure.

You are only entitled to transition allowance for absences for reasons other than health if the Employment Agency recognizes a valid reason for the interruption of participation. Examples of valid reasons include:

  • Marriage
  • Birth of a child
  • Moving
  • Attendance at a court hearing.

The transitional allowance is paid monthly in arrears as a subsidy.

Procedure

If you would like to apply for transition allowance in connection with a vocational integration measure, proceed as follows:

  • Schedule an appointment for consultation at your employment agency.
  • In a personal meeting, you will discuss the options for your professional integration with your advisor. Your advisor will work with you to examine your qualifications and determine the necessary measures and services.
  • Your advisor will also discuss with you the forms and documents that you need to fill out and submit. You can also fill out the documents online and upload the required proof.
  • You will then receive a notice.
