Received funeral grant from the agricultural accident insurance

Did you pay for the funeral of a person who died in a work-related accident, a commuting accident, or from an occupational disease? If so, the agricultural accident insurance will reimburse you for the costs under certain conditions.

You will receive a funeral grant if you have paid for a person's funeral,

• who was insured against accidents with the agricultural professional association and
• who died as a result of an insured event. These include:
  • Workplace accidents
  • Commuting accidents and
  • Occupational diseases

You will receive funeral allowance even if, for example, no burial has taken place due to disappearance. These include:

• Widows or widowers,
• Children,
• Stepchildren,
• Foster children,
• Simple,
• Siblings,
• former spouses,
• Relatives in the ascending line, that is:
  • Parents
  • Grandparents
  • Parents of children born out of wedlock
  • Adoptive parents and
  • great-grandparents, if applicable

However, even people who are not members of the family may be entitled to a death benefit if they paid for the funeral.
The amount of the funeral grant corresponds to

• for survivors: one-seventh of the so-called reference value applicable at the time of death. This is calculated from the income of all insured persons in the statutory pension insurance scheme.
• for persons who do not belong to the family: the actual costs of the funeral and is at most as high as the death grant for survivors.

You do not need to apply for the funeral allowance. The agricultural professional association will examine the entitlement to the funeral allowance ex officio.
The agricultural employers' liability insurance association informs the potential beneficiaries known to it to enable them to register their claims.

You do not have to meet any deadlines.
