Quick info

After the death of your former partner or spouse, you can receive a pension from the agricultural accident insurance.

Description

The „widow's and widower's pension for former spouses“ is a special variant of the widow's and widower's pension. If your former spouse has died as a result of an insured event, you can receive this pension. The same applies to registered civil partnerships.

Example: You are divorced and receive alimony. The person obligated to pay alimony dies in a work-related accident. The pension then replaces the alimony to a certain extent.

The pension generally amounts to up to 30 percent of the deceased person's annual income. In certain cases, you will receive a pension of up to 40 percent of the deceased person's annual income. This applies if you:

  • to raise a child,
  • are older than 47 years or
  • have reduced earning capacity, are incapable of exercising a profession, or are unable to work within the meaning of the statutory pension insurance scheme.

It is possible that other people besides you are entitled to the pension, for example, if the deceased person was married and divorced multiple times. In such a case, the pension is divided depending on the duration of the marriage or registered partnership with the deceased person.

If you have income, your pension will be reduced.
