Customs inspection – Import bans

Description

Despite facilitations in the clearance of goods in personal luggage, you cannot carry all goods and products without restriction in cross-border travel. Customs authorities monitor import restrictions and prohibitions and carry out corresponding checks.

For private imports, prohibitions and restrictions exist in particular in the following areas:

  • Wildlife conservation;
  • Medicines;
  • Narcotics;
  • Fireworks;
  • dangerous dogs (fighting dogs);
  • Food;
  • counterfeit goods (product piracy);
  • sanitary plant protection (e.g., potatoes);
  • Publications with unconstitutional content;
  • Protection of public order (e.g., pornography);
  • Animal Epidemic Law (pets, animal products);
  • Weapons and ammunition (sports weapons, hunting weapons, prohibited items).
