Online erledigenIf a work accident, commuting accident, or school accident has occurred in your company or institution, you must report it to your responsible trade association or accident insurance institution.
As a company or institution, you are required to report occupational, commuting, and school accidents to the statutory accident insurance. The reporting obligation applies if the injured person is expected to be unable to work for more than 3 days. In the case of children, pupils, and students, you must report every accident that requires medical treatment.
Following your report, the statutory accident insurance provider will examine whether and to what extent insurance coverage exists. For example, it is examined whether the accident is related to business activities or, for example, attending school. In addition, the accident insurance automatically determines which benefits are to be provided.
By law, the commercial trade associations are responsible for all businesses, institutions, and self-employed persons. The commercial trade associations are organized by industry. The regionally organized accident insurance funds are responsible for public sector enterprises, including accidents involving school pupils.
You can report a work-related or commuting accident online.
Note: Following the work accident, the injured person should consult a designated accident doctor (Durchgangsarzt). These doctors possess special knowledge and experience in the field of accident medicine. In an emergency, prompt medical assistance is of course important, and any doctor may be consulted.
