Apply for funding for youth residence halls

If you want to modernize, renovate, or create accommodation options for trainees in a youth residence hall, you can receive funding from the Federal Employment Agency.

For the conversion, modernization, extension, new construction, and furnishing of a youth residential home, you can receive funding from the Federal Employment Agency. It can fund your project either as a proportional interest subsidy or as a proportional one-time grant. 

You can receive funding for the following measures:

• remodeling and modernization work, such as:
  • Thermal insulation and further energy-saving measures 
    • Note: Measures that can also generate revenue (for example, solar systems or combined heat and power plants that also feed electricity into the public grid) are excluded.
  • Remediation of structural defects
  • Improvement of the apartment layouts and functional workflows
  • Sound insulation measures
  • Improvement of water supply and wastewater treatment,
  • Improvement of the power supply
  • Accessibility measures
  • Internet access
  • Fire protection measures
  • Implementation of safety standards
• New Construction 
• Extension of a residence hall
• new equipment

Specific features of each type of grant:

Interest subsidy

You can receive an interest subsidy to reduce the costs of a loan. The relevant Operations Service at the Bochum Employment Agency will be happy to explain the specific calculation of the subsidy amount to you.

One-off grant

The amount of the grant is 35 percent and, in special cases, a maximum of 40 percent. The funding is limited in time.

• The application for funding for your youth hostel will be sent to you by the Bochum Employment Agency. Please contact the Operations Service of the Bochum Employment Agency regarding this (by telephone or electronically). The Bochum Employment Agency is your competent contact for all questions regarding funding.
• You can submit the application to meet the deadline, even informally, at any other employment agency in the federal territory. This agency will then forward your application to your contact person.
• As soon as all documents are available and a decision on your application can be made, you will receive a written notification by mail regarding the approval or rejection of a grant.

You must have submitted the application for a one-time grant by June 30, 2023.

If you would like to apply for an interest subsidy, you do not need to adhere to any deadlines for this.
