Apply for a refund for train fare losses in long-distance transport

If, as a long-distance public transport company, you transport accompanying persons of severely disabled persons as well as their carried items or guide, companion, or assistance dogs free of charge, you can receive a reimbursement for lost fare revenue upon application.

The Federal Office of Administration (BVA) reimburses local and long-distance transport companies for lost fare revenue incurred from the transport of severely disabled persons and their accompanying persons.
You can receive a reimbursement for a completed calendar year. If you received advance payments for the billed year, the corresponding amount will be credited. 
Das Bundesverwaltungsamt (BVA) erstattet Ihnen die Kosten im Fernverkehr für die Beförderung von 

• Begleitpersonen von schwerbehinderten Menschen,
• Führ-, Begleit- oder Assistenzhunden von schwerbehinderten Menschen und 
• carried items, for example hand luggage, wheelchairs or other orthopedic aids.

Die Höhe der Rückerstattung hängt von dem für den Zeitraum jeweils festgelegten Prozentsatz ab.

Sie müssen den Antrag auf endgültige Erstattung von Fahrgeldausfällen im Fernverkehr online oder per Post beim Bundesverwaltungsamt (BVA) beantragen:

Submit application online:

• Go to the Federal Portal website and fill out the application form for final payment online.
• Please add the required documents as a scan. 
• Submit your application online.

Submit application by mail:

• Download the application for final payment from the BVA website.
• Fill out the application. Print it out and sign it.
• Send the signed application along with the required documents by mail to the BVA.
• You can send the signed application in advance by email to the BVA.

Your application is being processed and reviewed by the BVA. If you meet the requirements for a reimbursement of the loss of fare revenue, the amount due to you will be transferred.

• Antragsfrist: Sie müssen den Antrag bis zum 31. Dezember des dritten auf das Anspruchsjahr folgenden Kalenderjahres stellen.
• Time limit for filing an objection: 1 month after notification
• Time limit for filing a lawsuit: 1 month after service of the opposition decision
