Pursuant to Regulation (EU) 764/2008, replaced by Regulation (EU) 2019/515, product contact points have been established throughout the EU for products for which there are no harmonized rules yet.
The product contact points inform you about national regulations that must be observed if you wish to place products from another member state on the market in Germany.
You can obtain information on construction products from the Product Contact Point for Construction at the German Institute for Civil Engineering.
For all other products, the product information points of contact are the Federal Office for Agriculture and Food as well as the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM) responsible.
At the BLE product information point, which is responsible for the agricultural and fisheries sectors as well as commodities, you can obtain information regarding the placing on the market of these products in Germany, as well as on the relevant technical rules.
At the BAM Product Contact Point, you can obtain information on national technical regulations for products that are not yet harmonized at the European level. It handles all products that are not covered by the other two product contact points (construction products, agricultural products/fishery products/consumer goods).
At the product contact points, you can also obtain information on the principle of mutual recognition and the application of Regulation (EU) 2019/515 in Germany.
NOTE: You can also find the information here in in simple language.
