Apply for cancellation of the registration in the aircraft register

If you wish to have an entry deleted from the aircraft register, you can apply for this under certain conditions.

Along with a deregistration, you can apply for a license plate reservation for later re-registration.

Furthermore, when selling abroad, you can apply for the following services:

• Issuance of a certificate of cancellation,
• Issuance of a Certificate of Airworthiness for Export (C of A for Export),
• Advance notification of the foreign civil aviation authority by the Federal Aviation Office (LBA) or
• Return of the original airworthiness certificate.

You must provide the registration mark of the aircraft that you wish to have removed from the aircraft register and upload the required documents.

You can apply for the deletion as the owner or as their representative.

To apply for the deletion of the entry in the aircraft register and, if applicable, to request further services in the event of a sale abroad, please proceed as follows:

• If you want to use an online service:
  • Visit the federal portal verwaltung.bund.de and fill out the online application.
  • You can upload your documents directly.
• If you want to use a form:
  • Go to the website of the Federal Aviation Office and download the corresponding form.
  • You must send your original documents by mail to the Federal Aviation Office.

• Before the entry in the aircraft register is deleted, the Federal Aviation Office examines your application.
• After your application has been processed by the authority, you will receive a notification and a fee assessment. After you have paid the fees, you can access the notification confirming the deletion. If requested, you will receive
  • the deletion certificate,
  • the Certificate of Airworthiness for Export (C of A for Export)
  • and, if applicable, you will receive the original certificate of airworthiness back.
