The Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) is a higher federal German authority and is responsible for reimbursing the fee contribution for successfully completed integration courses.
The prerequisite is that you were required to contribute to the cost of your integration course and that you achieved your "Integration Course Certificate" within the statutory period after your first entitlement to participate was issued.
The statutory period is 2 years for participation authorizations issued before January 31, 2023. If your participation authorization was issued on or after February 1, 2023, the statutory period is 2 years for participation in a general integration course and 3 years for participation in a special integration course pursuant to Section 13 (1) of the Integration Course Ordinance (IntV). This includes, for example, a literacy course, a course for second-script learners, a youth integration course, as well as a parents' or women's integration course.
To do this, you must successfully complete the language and orientation course with the final tests "Deutsch-Test für Zuwanderer" and "Leben in Deutschland". You have paid your financial contribution to your course provider.
If you participated in the integration course free of charge throughout or did not achieve the "Integration Course Certificate", you will not receive a refund.
The refund will be made on a pro rata basis, provided you were not exempt from the fees for the entire integration course.
You submit your application online or in writing to the BAMF.
You can apply for the refund online directly via the federal administration portal or in writing to the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF).
