Apply for the subsequent inclusion of spouses and descendants in the late repatriate admission notice

If you are a late repatriate, live in Germany, and still have family members (spouse, descendants) in the settlement area, you can apply for them to be subsequently included in your admission notice.

If you are a late repatriate, live in Germany, and have family members (spouse, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren) who still live in the settlement area, you can apply for them to be subsequently included in your admission notice.

If the family members to be included are of legal age, they must generally provide proof of German language proficiency (certificate A1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) prior to entering the federal territory. In this procedure, the Federal Office of Administration examines whether the family members meet the statutory requirements to be subsequently included in the admission notice. Once an inclusion notice has been issued for the family members, they are permitted to enter the Federal Republic of Germany.

The family members must organize and pay for their own departure (for example by train, bus or plane). After your family members arrive in the federal territory, they must first go to the Friedland branch office of the Federal Office of Administration. There they will be registered and assigned to a federal state. Due to the corona pandemic, the registration procedure is currently preceded by accommodation in a federally funded transit accommodation facility.

Afterwards, you can take part in an integration course free of charge.

Your siblings, parents, parents-in-law, and other relatives cannot be included.

You can submit the application for subsequent inclusion in the admission notice in writing or online.

Written application:

• Download the application form from the website of the Federal Office of Administration and print it out.
• Alternatively, you can also request the form in writing from the Federal Office of Administration.
• Fill out the form and attach the necessary documents.
• Submit the application documents to the Federal Office of Administration.
• You will automatically receive the respective processing status and the decision of the Federal Office of Administration by post.

Online Application:

• Go to the Federal Portal's website and fill out the application form online.
  • Note: To use the online feature, you will need your ID card and PIN number.
• Please attach scans of the other required documents.
• Submit your application.
• The BVA will review your application.
• Once the review of your application is complete, you will automatically be informed of the current status and the decision of the Federal Office of Administration.

If your application is approved:

• Upon arrival in Germany, the included family members shall go to the Friedland branch office of the Federal Office of Administration.
• The identity of the family members is checked there.
• The registration procedure is initiated there. Due to the corona pandemic, accommodation in a federally funded transit facility currently precedes the registration procedure.
• Following the successful completion of the registration procedure, family members are assigned to a federal state, taking into account family ties (place of residence of the late-immigrant).
• Upon request, family members can submit a declaration of name during the distribution procedure to adapt their first and last names to German usage.

If your application has been rejected:

• If you disagree with the Federal Administrative Office’s notice of denial, you have the option to file an appeal.
• If you do not agree with the objection decision, you can file a lawsuit with the Cologne Administrative Court.

• Time limit for filing an objection: 1 month after notification
• Time limit for filing a lawsuit: 1 month after service of the opposition decision
