In the digital radio system of authorities and organizations with security tasks (BOS), terminals from various manufacturers are used. To ensure that these terminals are compatible with all network components and with each other, you may only use terminals certified by the Federal Agency for Public Safety Digital Radio (BDBOS).
The BDBOS has defined performance features in the interoperability guidelines (IOP guidelines) that all end devices must meet. Compliance with these defined performance features is confirmed by a corresponding certificate.
If you manufacture or distribute terminal devices intended by BOS for communication in the BOS digital radio network, you must have these terminal devices certified. To do this, you submit an application to the BDBOS.
For the certification, a technical inspection by a competent inspection body is required. This body creates a BOS inspection report, which you submit along with your application for certification. The BDBOS also requires two individual units of your terminal device.
The certification confirms that your terminal device fulfills all specified performance characteristics and is suitable for trouble-free operation. It always refers to a specific hardware and software version of a terminal device.
You can apply for the certification of terminal equipment online or by mail.
